Random TNA Thoughts 3/25/11
April 13, 2011
It's time for another edition of Random Thoughts. This one is going to
deal with TNA, so expect a mix of both positives and negatives. Let's
get started.
- World Title Situation.: I think TNA is doing a fairly good job with this story. They made somewhat of a good point about not having to give Mr. Anderson his rematch due to the change in power. The only problem I have with that is since when is a contract voided because of a change in power? But whatever, it's wrestling. Let's not read too much into it. The story is great for Mr. Anderson, and really lets him turn kind of heel. The story also helps RVD become relevant in TNA again. He's apparently the new number one contender and he is going to get the rematch he never got. Anyone else notice this pattern of champions losing their titles and not getting their rematches? I thought the ending segment on Impact last night was kind of goofy and stupid. At least the part with RVD was. I can live with Sting and Anderson arguing and brawling backstage, but the segment gave me a bad feeling they are about to go in a ridiculous direction with RVD.
- Hernandez and his group.: I found this to be the most boring segment on Impact last night, by far. I understand they are Mexican and TNA wants to add some of the Spanish language into the segment, but I could barely understand a word they were saying. TNA needs to consider that they are in the United States and most likely, the majority of the audience doesn't speak Spanish. Therefore, by making what seemed to be like 95% of the segment Spanish, the impact is lost on this part of the audience. Even if this segment was in English, please keep the mic away from Hernandez. For some reason, I used to be a fan of his. But lately, he just gets more and more annoying and sloppy. By the way, when they were walking to the ring last night, I think Hernandez accidentally punched Rosita in the face. I think Matt Morgan can be doing much better things in TNA and I really feel like he isn't being used all that well right now.
- Sting and Angle Video Packages.: I thought these video packages were really well done. I can't really explain why, but they kind of just resonated with me. If I can find them on YouTube I will try to post it.
- Immortal vs Fortune.: Clearly this feud is still going on but it's not as big as I expected it to be. I thought that guys like Steiner, Crimson, and Angle would still be involved more. Rather than having a war between the two sides, TNA opted to have separate stories involving the guys. For me, it kind of takes away from the overall story. This Lockdown match seems interesting with Flair, Matt Hardy, Bully Ray, and Abyss vs Fortune. The only thing is that keeping all those guys in a cage all at once may make the match kind of sloppy and cluttered.
- Abyss.: I'm glad Abyss is back, because I actually like him in TNA. Kind of strange though, that he comes back like he hasn't missed a beat even though he should be in a wheel chair, if even alive. But again, this is wrestling. Lets just enjoy ourselves.
- Samoa Joe, The Pope, and the Camera Man Guy.: First of all, what is the Camera Man's name? Is it Okato, Okota, or something else? It doesn't matter because the character is downright awful. In the past six months or so, Pope has lost a lot of his luster for me. I think he is still talented but his promos are way too over the top and boring. His character has grown stale very quickly, especially since he was already proven to be a fraud multiple times. The segment last week where Pope beat up the camera man was absolutely dreadful. The moment where Pope took off his mask was embarrassing. Pope said, "let's see who's behind the mask," yanked off the mask, and still no one had any idea who he was. This guy may actually be a good wrestler, but we would never know with this horrible character. Samoa Joe is just being wasted away in all of this. He isn't gaining anything from the feud that has been going on way too long.
- The Jeff Hardy Situation.: It seems as though Jeff Hardy has hit rock bottom. I see this situation as a total lack of respect and responsibility on both sides. Jeff Hardy show total disrespect to TNA by showing up in that condition, when he is in the main event of the night. If you want to do your thing, that's cool. But do it on your own time. TNA was just as bad at handling the situation. After seeing that Jeff was in such bad shape, they didn't change the match, they forced Jeff out there and put on a horrible match. In this situation, I feel bad for the fans and Sting. The fans lost out and got a horrible main event. I feel bad for Sting, because he showed up ready to work and put on a good match. Instead he got a mess of a man pretty much thrown at him, and he had to try to make something of it. It reminds me of a video I saw where a Japanese wrestler wrestles a blow up doll for 30 minutes. By the way, the match with the blow up doll was actually pretty good.
Overall, I think TNA is doing some good things right now, but they are pretty much a creative mess. The show is getting really stale and I'm starting not to care about the stories anymore. At this point, I'm pretty much just watching because it's wrestling and my DVR is already set to record it.
Anyway, I have been doing a lot of work on the site in the last few days. Please check out all the new stuff and check back every day for new content. Especially, check out my product recommendations and the MuccNet Amazon Store. Remember that it is completely safe to purchase things through there. You are purchasing these items through Amazon.com, not me. I simply just go around and pick out items everyone may be interested in. So please check the store out. It's the one stop shop for WWE and TNA items. Also, don't forget to follow me on twitter.
