I heard the news this morning of the passing of Macho Man Randy Savage. I have to say that I was really devastated, as he was one of my all time favorites. When I started watching wrestling, he was just starting to get into that weird phase of his WWF run where he was a part time announcer and part time wrestler. I have seen a lot of people referring to that period as his "neon cowboy" period. I remember really enjoying his outfits back then, but I didn't really know his wrestling as much. In later years, I started to learn more about his wrestling style and how awesome he was.

I really enjoyed his somewhat unusual style. It was kind of a contrast to the styles of his opponents, but it really brought out the best in them. I remember when I used to play the WWF Royal Rumble video game for Super Nintendo, I would always pick either Bret Hart or Macho Man. I can still remember dropping endless elbows off the top in that game.

I also remember being a kid and dropping elbows off my couch. I remember it like it was yesterday. I would slam my Hulk Hogan wrestling buddy on the floor, do a little spin, point to the couch, and give a little "OHHH YEAH!" Then, I would climb onto the seat of the couch, look around and nod, then climb onto the arm rest. Once I got myself to stand up straight, I would point my fingers into the air, and drop the elbow.

As an avid collector of WWE action figures, it was always a disappointment for me to never get another Macho Man figure after his Hasbro figure. It was the one with the orange trunks and yellow boots. Unfortunately, when he joined the nWo, I stupidly took a sharpie and colored his clothes black, along with a lot of my other Hasbro figures. I was so excited when Mattel announced they were finally making a Macho Man figure. I bought two of his Defining Moments figures. I have one up on display. I then bought his All-Stars two pack figure, which I love. Just the other day I ordered his Legends 5 figure, which oddly enough, features the same attire as my old Hasbro Macho Man. I guess things have a weird way of coming full circle.

I was really hoping to see Macho Man on WWE TV again, and hopefully be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. I think it is a travesty that he isn't already there, but hopefully Vince McMahon can put bad blood aside and let him in. After all, I just read this morning that Hulk Hogan claims he had just started to communicate with Savage again.

Anyway, it was nice unloading all of this and remembering Macho Man. I want to thank Mattel, because they have allowed me to find a way to have Macho Man live forever.

OOOOHHHHH YEAAAAAHHHHH!!!!
