Under: Tough Enough Reviews
On Monday night, Tough Enough returned to our television screens. I was a
huge fan of the original three seasons (not so much the fourth). I
think this season may be the best yet. The collection of trainers are
great. Austin is one of the biggest stars of all time and Booker T
certainly knows what it takes to make it in the business. Trish is
arguabley the biggest name in women's wrestling in history and she is
extrememly talented. Bell Demott is a great, no nonsense, bad ass
trainer that will not hesitate to put the contestants in their place.
Speaking of putting the contestants in their place, I loved how the
trainers didn't sugar coat anything. They pulled no punches when
chastizing the contestants. I especially loved the segment where Austin
was grilling the bottom three contestants. He was clearly looking to see
if they had the mental make up to continue. When he asked the one girl
what her favorite match was, he set up one of the greatest moments in
wrestling TV history. I could not believe she said, "the one with Melina
and Alicia Fox." The look on Austin's face was priceless as he tried to
proccess what she just told him. I don't want to discredit the ability
of either Melina or Alicia Fox, but in the history of wrestling, with so
many epic matches, how could that be her favorite match? By the way,
she wasn't even specific about when the match occurred, so there is no
indication that she even had an actual match in mind.
I think Erik was a major disappointment this week. From the looks of him, I expected him to be in pretty good shape. Perhaps his size worked against him while running the ropes. He does have more mass to carry around and his stamina may have been effected. Hopefully, he used this week's showing as a learning experience, and he can recover.
I found the girl that claimed to have 11 years experience extremely annoying, and I hope she is the next to be eliminated. She constantly brags about how much experience she has and how much better she is that everyone else, yet she was among the worst. Also, I hate to say this, but I don't find her attractive at all. I think she needs to reevaluate herself. She will eventually have to either put up or shut up.
I think some of the early favorites include Luke, AJ, Matt, and Rima. Luke seems to have a good mix of talent, size, and look. I thought that he really stood out this week. AJ and Matt are experienced and talented. However, their size may work against them in the end. I think Rima has a certain star quality to her. She may have cheated in the training but just like Booker T said, "if you ain't cheating, you aint trying." While I don't like cheaters, she realized that she was at a bit of a disadvantage, so she did something about it. Also, when she was called out on it, she didn't make excuses, she took responsibility for what she did. By the way, I think Booker T may have a thing for her. He seemed to really be defending her in the meeting, and on RAW he was just downright creepy as she introduced herself.
I think Christina may be a sleeper in this competition. After all, her sister is a current WWE diva. She may have been able to get some advice from her sister. This week, she wasn't really noticable, and she may fly under the radar until late in the competition. I think Jeremiah, the bald guy, and the other girl will have a decent showing, but they will likely be eliminated when the trainers have to start cutting based on who is the best, rather than who screwed up the worst.
I'm really looking forward to the special guests throughout the season, as it looks like WWE is going to bring in big name guests.
